One of the most common questions I get at wedding consults is “Do I really need a second photographer for my wedding?” Im not going to answer that question with a simple yes or no, but I’ll give you a few things of what will happen if you have two photographers at your wedding and you can decide if its worth it or not.
1.You will get more images
Yes, point blank.. you will get more images. There is only so much one person can capture, so if while I’m photographing the Bride with her family there happens to be a super sweet moment of the groom and his mom.. I cant take pictures of both of those things happening at once. With two photographers, on average I am able to deliver anywhere from 100-150 additional images than if I were shooting the wedding by myself. Can you image having 100 extra pictures from your wedding day?
2. You will get different angles
I’ll just give you an example of this one. So below I had Clancy + Erin walk towards me, My husband was to their left and captured the photo on the right which I absolutely love! Also, if you are doing a first look it is very difficult for me to get the bride and grooms genuine reaction at the same time. If you aren’t doing a first look, it is REALLY hard for me to capture the Bride walking down the aisle towards the groom AND capture the groom seeing her for the first time. And I would say thats probably one of the most important parts of the day for the Bride.
3. It will make your wedding day go so much smoother
One of the main reasons I love it when my couples book a collection that includes a second photographer is because I know that we will be able to tell the full story of their wedding day. How do we do that? Well when I am with the girls doing getting ready shots, detail shots and the bride getting in her dress.. the second photographer is able to be with the guys getting the same thing. When you just have one photographer you have to sacrifice one of those things. So naturally when you are able to get two things done at once, it makes it so much easier on the timeline and brides don’t have to stress about running behind or having to cram everything into a short amount of time.
I’ll let you decide if having a second photographer is worth it. But for me, I would say it would be worth it simply to be able to get every reaction of when your husband sees you for the first time and you seeing him for the first time. That moment is SO special and you want to be able to look back at your pictures and relive every second!
